This guide explains how to play Steam Workshop maps in the new CSGO (csgo_legacy), with or without CS2 installed.
Install CS2 and open the Workshop page.
On the right sidebar, scroll down and enable "Show Incompatible Items" — this reveals old CS:GO maps.
Subscribe to the map you want (example: fy_pool_day).
Go to:
steamapps/workshop/content/730/
Inside the folder, you will find a .bin or compressed file.
Extract it to get the .bsp map file.
Copy the .bsp file into:
steamapps/common/csgo legacy/csgo/maps
Enable the developer console and use this command (example):
sv_game_mode_flags 32; map fy_pool_day dm
This loads fy_pool_day in deathmatch free‑for‑all mode.
You can also use casual, competitive, wingman, etc.
Go to the Workshop and enable "Show Incompatible Items".
Copy the link of the map you want.
Go to:
https://steamworkshopdownloader.io/Paste the Workshop link and download the map.
You will get a .bsp file. Move it to:
steamapps/common/csgo legacy/csgo/maps
Use the same command as before:
sv_game_mode_flags 32; map fy_pool_day dm
Done — have fun!
You can play workshop maps with your friends!
Simply invite them through Steam or directly from the in‑game friends list.
Once they join your lobby, start the map normally using the console command.
